This was the site of a thriving industry at one time, it started back in 1672, In the mid-1940s had both the mill and sawmill operations by the river ended and now there are only remnants left to remind the glory days.
We live in a logging community, but there are only a few small private sawmills. Most of our logs are towed down the strait to Vancouver to be sold overseas or milled there.
Its hard to survive as a small company these days i belive as the bigger one takes more market.
